Teaching and Learning

This will be the parent page to manage articles and commentary on the real needs and some real strategies and insights on teaching and learning.

I hold a Master’s in Teaching with an emphasis in Special Education, and focused on teaching students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. I am Endorsed in Special Education, Middle Math and Science, and teaching English Language Learners. I am Highly Qualified in English/Language Arts and Social Studies.

I have worked successfully with youth and adults with learning challenges, whether cognitive or emotional and/or behavioral challenges, since 2001.

I am dyslexic, from a time when you hid that disability if you could, and sustained a brain injury from chemotherapy in 2011.

I was solicited for an interview  and spotlighted in this article from the National Education Association: http://www.nea.org/tools/47003.htm

I advocate for students from backgrounds not well understood in education. Sometimes quite publicly: http://neatoday.org/2011/09/07/bullying-takes-toll-on-minority-student-achievement/
